The Herald Weekly (formerly The Huntersville Herald) features an article about H.E.L.P.’s involvement in getting the word out regarding the availability of the weatherization program, designed to make older homes more energy efficient. There are federal stimulus dollars allocated for use in our communities and Mecklenburg County, and H.E.L.P. has partnered with local government officials, churches and other organizations to try and get information about the existence of such a program out into our towns. The program itself is administered locally by Gaston Community Action, a non-profit agency responsible for reviewing and screening the applications initially. Gaston Community Action is responsible for dealing with applicants from Mecklenburg and 3 other counties.
For more information regarding weatherization, contact Joseph Dixon, executive director of Gaston Community Action Inc., at 704-861-2283 or joseph.dixon@gastonca.org.
